The Journal of Artificial Intelligence Applications and Data Science (JAIADS) maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism and intellectual property theft. Plagiarism in any form constitutes a serious ethical violation and is fundamentally contrary to the advancement of science.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism involves the use of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving them proper, explicit credit. This includes:
- Copying text word-for-word from another source without quotation marks and citation.
- Paraphrasing the ideas of others without attribution.
- Using images, charts, or tables from other publications without securing permission or providing citation.
- Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without referencing the original publication.
Screening Process
To ensure the originality of published work, all manuscripts submitted to JAIADS undergo a strict plagiarism screening process during the initial desk evaluation.
- The Editorial Manager platform is integrated with industry-standard similarity detection software (e.g., Turnitin / iThenticate).
- A similarity report is generated for every submitted manuscript.
- While there is no rigid numerical threshold, a high similarity index-especially concerning the methodology, results, or conclusion sections-will trigger a detailed manual review by the editorial team.
Consequences of Plagiarism
- Pre-Publication: If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be immediately rejected. The authors will be notified of the findings.
- Post-Publication: If plagiarism is discovered after an article has been published, JAIADS will conduct a formal investigation in accordance with COPE guidelines. If the plagiarism is confirmed, the article will be formally retracted.
In cases of severe ethical breaches, JAIADS reserves the right to notify the authors' affiliated institutions or funding agencies regarding the misconduct.
