Corrections and Withdrawals

The Journal of Artificial Intelligence Applications and Data Science (JAIADS) recognizes its responsibility to correct errors in the published scientific record. We follow the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding post-publication discussions, corrections, and retractions.

 

Corrections (Errata and Corrigenda)

If a scientifically relevant error is discovered in a published article that does not invalidate the study's primary conclusions, JAIADS will issue a formal correction.

  • Errata: Issued when the error is introduced by the journal during the production or typesetting process.
  • Corrigenda: Issued when the error is introduced by the authors.

 

The correction will clearly indicate the original error, provide the corrected information, and link bidirectionally to the original published article.

 

Author Name Changes

JAIADS honors requests for author name changes post-publication under valid, sensitive circumstances (e.g., gender transition, religious conversion, or changes in marital status). These changes will be made directly to the digital record without publishing a formal correction notice that might out the author or draw unwanted attention to the change, ensuring the author's privacy is respected.

 

Expressions of Concern

In situations where the editorial board receives credible allegations of research misconduct but a conclusive investigation is pending, or if the investigation yields inconclusive results but significant doubts remain, JAIADS may publish an Expression of Concern. This serves to alert readers to the potential issues with the data or methodology until a final resolution is reached.

 

Article Retractions

Retractions are reserved for articles whose findings are proven to be highly unreliable or unethical. An article may be retracted if:

  • There is clear evidence of data fabrication, falsification, or pervasive calculation errors that invalidate the conclusions.
  • The research constitutes plagiarism.
  • The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper justification, permission, or cross-referencing (duplicate publication).
  • The research violated fundamental ethical guidelines (e.g., lack of IRB approval for human subjects).

 

When an article is retracted, the original HTML and PDF files remain accessible online but are clearly watermarked as "RETRACTED." A formal Retraction Notice detailing the reasons for the retraction will be published and linked to the original article.

 

Exceptional Article Removal

In extremely rare circumstances, JAIADS may permanently or temporarily remove the full text of an article from its online platform. This action is taken only if:

  • The article contains content that is clearly defamatory or infringes upon legal rights.
  • Execution of the research described in the article poses a severe and immediate risk to public health or safety.
  • The article is subject to a court order.

 

In such cases, the bibliographic metadata (title and authors) will be retained on the website, accompanied by a formal statement explaining why the full text has been removed.
